The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse Congratulates Governor Brian Kemp on Georgia Access

Georgia Access – an important step in the ongoing process to provide effective and affordable coverage to the people of Georgia

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

4 November, 2019

The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse congratulates Governor Kemp, Lt. Governor Duncan, Speaker Ralston, and the leadership of the Georgia General Assembly on Georgia Access.

This important step in the ongoing process to provide effective and affordable coverage to the people of Georgia demonstrates the commitment of our state leadership to address this complicated issue.

For far too long, too many Georgian’s have not had access to safe and effective insurance.  For far too long, funding has been a barrier for those who need quality access. While, there is still more to do we are excited to help contribute to this step in the process.

The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA) looks forward to partnering with Governor Kemp and our state leadership as they continue to perfect the process and ensure those who suffer from Substance Use Disorders (SUD) have safe, effective, and affordable access and funding for the quality insurance coverage they deserve and need.

As Georgia Access moves forward, GCSA will do our level best to make certain the details of Georgia Access match the strong stated support for a comprehensive approach for those suffering from addiction or problem alcohol and drug use that includes prevention, treatment and recovery support – three legs of the SUD stool that are essential to healthy communities.

This is a time for constructive collaboration and productive work and GCSA is eager to move forward with Governor Kemp as we work together for the people of Georgia.
