The 11th Annual Georgia School of Addiction Studies Conference

The 11th Annual Georgia School of Addiction Studies will be held August 28-September 1, 2017 at the Hyatt Riverfront in Savannah.

Please plan to join us!

In recognition of accomplishments to the fields of prevention, treatment and recovery, the Georgia School of Addiction Studies (GSAS), will present the following awards at their 2017 conference:

Ray Avant Excellence in Prevention Award
Prevention Ambassador Award
Paula Crane Excellence in Addiction Treatment Award
Excellence in Treatment Award – Organization

Nominations for the awards may be made by completing one of the attached forms located on the GSAS website http://www.thegeorgiaschool.org/award_nomination/forms.htm
 
Nomination form(s) must be received by GSAS no later than close of business July 17, 2017.

Navigate Recovery Gwinnett: 3rd Annual 5K Run and Walk for Recovery @ Thrasher Park

There will be a resource fair of recovery/treatment providers and exhibitors of services and agencies who promote recovery wellness. We will have honor signs for those celebrating their recovery and memorial signs for people who we have lost to addiction. These signs will be displayed along the route to inspire people to move forward in recovery! We will have Recovery Art Show, speakers and a DJ to make the day a fun event!

Meeting n Music is an  outdoor concert with a cook out and an All Recovery meeting. The event will be held on our property. Meeting n Music will be able to provide a safe place, void of substance use, over the holiday weekend. “Voice of Recovery” T-Shirts provided. Musician Dalton Edwards, a Rome native will be providing entertainment. Also this event will be used to promote recovery and to show others the possibility of a life change.

Care Partners of Georgia Rally for Recovery 2017 Flyer

This rally is hosted on campus at the auditorium and has “Ted Like” talks from individuals with a lived experience. An all-day event to come and fit a motivational talk into the daily schedule. Speakers both from the Cares program and Respect Institute will be the speakers. During intermissions, motivational slides are played with motivational inspired music. Resource tables of local services will be set up as well as counselor from EGSC and local providers. They want a positive image with the students so they will seek help on campus. Community programs, surrounding communities are invited to this event as well.

Hope House will be hosting a public event for their community and surrounding communities to promote and encourage recovery. The event will be hosted by a local church who believes our mission is valuable. We will have several speakers who have been impacted by recovery to share their stories with us. There will be a talent show with local and state talent entries. The goal is to provide hope and education on substance use disorder to all attending and provide a safe and sober environment for fun.

Face to Face RCO Taking it to the Streets

Face to Face Recovery Community Organization is looking to bring something that has never been brought to Jesup, Georgia. This event will reach out to different treatment providers and different services that will come and set up booths to give away different materials. There will be speakers throughout the day and different kinds of entertainment. The community will  be fed while having different activities for children to be involved in like inflatables, popcorn, balloons, and snow cones. Taking it To the Streets will be advertised through arm bands and flyers. The goal will be to engage the community thru fellowship and lots of fun, while bringing vision for recovery to the community. This event will ROCK the Community with a shot of Hope and Recovery!!
