Pineland DBHDD : Coffee with Cops

9/28/17 will be Coffee with Cops to assist educating and breaking the stigmas associated with those in recovery with local law enforcement. Many local officers have been through Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) and requested resource notebooks to better assist those starting a recovery program. Resource books will be created for the local law enforcement along with providing coffee and food for them while educating about the recovery process for families.

A community rally to bring awareness and to celebrate the gains
made by those in recovery, just as we celebrate health improvements
made by those who are managing other health conditions such as
hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and heart disease. The observance
reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential
to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and
people can and do recover. This event will have food, fun, education
and inspiration for all ages!

Middle GA CSB: Rumble in the Jungle “A Fight for Recovery” @ Stubbs Park

Middle GA CSB wishes to have a Recovery Rally focusing on the overall theme to “Strengthen Families and Communities”.  Focusing on this theme will let the people know that recovery affects more than just the addict. This event will have speakers and entertainment that will address recovery issues and share stories to empower others that are struggling in their recovery. The Rumble in the Jungle  Fight for Recovery will have a bounce house/water slide T-shirts for the event for participants and speakers. Community resources will be available.

Face to Face RCO Taking it to the Streets

Face to Face Recovery Community Organization is looking to bring something that has never been brought to Jesup, Georgia. This event will reach out to different treatment providers and different services that will come and set up booths to give away different materials. There will be speakers throughout the day and different kinds of entertainment. The community will  be fed while having different activities for children to be involved in like inflatables, popcorn, balloons, and snow cones. Taking it To the Streets will be advertised through arm bands and flyers. The goal will be to engage the community thru fellowship and lots of fun, while bringing vision for recovery to the community. This event will ROCK the Community with a shot of Hope and Recovery!!

Athens Recovery Fest Inc. : Athens Recovery Fest @ Georgia Square Mall

Athens Recovery Fest is a collaboration between many different agencies in the area. Live music will be provided from four bands! This event will have recovery speakers who will showcase and celebrate people in long-term recovery and show how it empowers, motivates, and gives everyone a renewed outlook on life. The Athens Recovery Fest will also educate community members about substance use disorders, the effectiveness of treatment and the realistic possibility of recovery. 

Street Smart Youth Project: Rally for Prevention
Sep 30 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

This outdoor event will feature presentations from adults in recovery, a motivational speech from a youth leader, and a call-to-action from community leaders encouraging residents to join in community efforts to address the issues of addiction in English Avenue. In addition, information regarding prevention, and treatment and recovery services will be available (specifically in the English Avenue neighborhood)and will be distributed in “goodie” bags to attendees.

Information about community resources will also be distributed by participating agencies providing services which address addiction, mental health, youth services and homelessness.

A professional DJ, a children’s fun truck, family activities, food and t-shirt giveaways will be used to draw interest to the speaker presentations and information tables.
